Struggling with an audio problem

Over the past few days, I have been struggling to get audio back on my PC. The XP powered computer has lost audio all of a sudden, the cause is un-explainable to this day!

I have been trying to get help from friends and the search engines. I have tried quite a few driver installs but to no avail so far.

Well, I have not yet been able to fix this sound problem, but I have loaded Fedora core 4 and the sound card works fine in Fedora right off the bat! Looks like it is a windows XP service pack 2 issue out here...
